Alexander Wurz is to retire as a race driver at the end of the season. He is expected to remain at Williams as a test driver next year. The news is yet to be officially announced but it is not a surprise given the disappointing season he has had. Williams is one of several teams waiting to see what Fernando Alonso is going to do but we hear whispers of the likes of Heikki Kovalainen and Nelson Piquet Jr - if one of them has to move on to make way for Alonso. The chances of Fernando going to Renault are slim, however, and so Renault will need Kovalainen and Piquet. This will mean Williams will need to look elsewhere.
