There are reports in the Cologne newspapers that Toyota's F1 engine boss Norbert Kreyer is to take over the role of technical director of Toyota Motorsport. This would be at the expense of the current incumbent Gustav Brunner. The Toyota engine was a big success in 2002 and that has led to other engine manufacturers trying to recruit Toyota men. There are reports that Mercedes-Benz has been particularly active in this respect.

It is no secret that Toyota was not very satisfied with its chassis and that Brunner's position was under some threat but it was not expected that there would be a change this year. However the pressure is on at Toyota to maintain the development and so we await confirmation that Kreyer has moved into his new role.
