Frentzen on top on opening day at Silverstone
JORDAN's Heinz Harald Frentzen topped the times on the opening day of testing at Silverstone as he outpaced his rivals.
Frentzen posted a quickest lap time of one minute and 24.083 seconds during his 24-lap run at the Northamptonshire circuit as he narrowly beat Arrows' Jos Verstappen in the times.
Jaguar driver Luciano Burti was quicker than his team-mate Eddie Irvine but both suffered mechanical problems as their preparations for the 2001 season were once again hampered.
Benetton's Jenson Button was almost 7.5 seconds slower than Frentzen's quickest lap time as the young British driver continued to familiarize himself with the new B201.
