A change of name for BAR
Although it has yet to be officially announced we expect there to be a completely new name for British American Racing at the end of the current year. And it will not be Honda F1, nor will it feature the Prodrive name. The team intends that the new name - whatever that may be - will become a brand in its own right in the years ahead so that when Lucky Strike is forced out of Formula 1 by the ban on tobacco advertising, British American Tobacco has another brand to use for marketing racing-related products.
The team has been involved in a wide-reaching research operation in recent months to try to establish the best route to take and we believe that a name has now been chosen but it is not yet clear what this is. We would be very surprised if there was no mention of Honda in the new title.
