The second Honda team

The news from Japan is that Dome has now denied that it will be running the second Honda team next year and so speculation has moved on to the Super Aguri organisation, the group of racing teams which are run by former Grand Prix driver Aguri Suzuki. The project was launched back in 1997 with the aim of taking young Japanese drivers to Formula 1 and nowadays runs programmes in the Indy Racing League, Japanese GT series, Formula Dream and the Italian Open Masters series. The company has worked in the past by funding local teams, notably with Fernandez Racing in IRL and with teams in the German Formula 3 series, which resulted in Toshihiro Kaneishi winning the German F3 title in 2000.

It is quite likely, given the difficult timescales involved, that the team would be run from the BAR headquarters in Brackley, where there is one big factory and planning permission for another.
