The Grand Prix of America in New Jersey has a June slot on a provisional 2013 F1 calendar circulated to teams at the Singapore GP.
The Grand Prix of America in New Jersey has a June slot on a provisional 2013 F1 calendar circulated to teams at the Singapore GP.
The schedule is due to go before the FIA World Motor Sport Council next week and is broadly similar to 2011 but with New Jersey's race taking a June date previously occupied by Valencia, and back-to-backed with the Canadian GP.
Bernie Ecclestone has previously expressed doubt about the new US street circuit with a Manhattan back drop being ready for 2013, despite those plans being reinforced when Sebastian Vettel visited to drive the planned layout after Montreal back in June.
The second American race thus remains provisional, along with Singapore, which is still negotiating the terms of a contract extension but is expected to go ahead, South Korea and Germany, both of which have financial question marks against them.
The new schedule thus has just seven of the 20 races in Europe, with 16 'back-to-back' events and just four stand-alone races. The five week summer break, post-Hungary, is maintained however.
The full provisional calendar is as follows:
March 17: Australia
March 24: Malaysia
April 14: China
April 21: Bahrain
