Mosley joins European Commission automotive policy group

The European Union has asked FIA President Max Mosley to be a member of CARS 21, the Competitive Automotive Regulatory System for the 21st Century. The aim of the group is to generate recommendations to improve the worldwide competitiveness of the European automotive industry.

The European Union has asked FIA President Max Mosley to be a member of CARS 21, the Competitive Automotive Regulatory System for the 21st Century. The aim of the group is to generate recommendations to improve the worldwide competitiveness of the European automotive industry. The group is to be chaired by Gunter Verheugen, vice-president of the European Commission and includes Jacques Barrot, the EU Commissioner for Transport, Stavros Dimas, the Commissioner for Environment in addition to various ministers from different EU countries, European parliamentarians, industry figures including Lewis Booth (chairman and CEO of Ford of Europe), Sergio Marchionne (chief executive of Fiat), Bernd Pischetsrieder (the boss of Volkswagen) and Louis Schweitzer (the soon to retire chairman of Renault). Mosley is involved as a representative of the motoring consumers of Europe.
