Schumacher linked with Meyer Shank move for 2027

Mick Schumacher says his 2027 plans are settled amid reports that he will remain in IndyCar but move to Meyer Shank Racing.

Mick Schumacher seems set to continue in IndyCar next season, but not necessarily in the same garage.

The former Haas Formula 1 driver says he already knows where he will race in 2027 and has no need to search for alternatives. Reports link him with Meyer Shank Racing, where Felix Rosenqvist is expected to leave a vacancy.

Schumacher's first season with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing has been difficult. He is 24th in the standings, although an 11th-place finish in Washington represented his best result so far on a road or street circuit.

A move to Meyer Shank would offer a change of environment without abandoning the American career he has spent this season trying to establish. It could also remove him from an increasingly crowded conversation about vacant Formula 1 seats.

Schumacher has never entirely closed the door on returning to F1, but available drives are scarce and his immediate prospects in IndyCar are more tangible. Teams there can evaluate him on current racing evidence rather than memories of his Haas seasons or reserve work.

His comment that there is no need to look around suggests an agreement may already be in place, although neither Schumacher nor Meyer Shank has announced one.

Remaining in IndyCar would therefore be less a fallback than a decision to give the project sufficient time. One difficult rookie campaign is not much of a sample, particularly in a series where unfamiliar circuits, tyre behaviour and oval racing all impose a substantial learning curve.
