Ecclestone extends Austin deadline

Formula 1 commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone has given the Circuit of the Americas another week to fulfill contractual demands.

Formula 1 commercial rights holder Bernie Ecclestone has given the Circuit of the Americas another week to fulfill contractual demands to host the Austin GP.

Originally, Ecclestone said that Austin organisers had until November 30 to provide proof of funding.

"We are still trying to make it happen," Ecclestone said. "But if it isn't all signed before the World Motor Sport Council meeting, it can't happen."

Ecclestone did the initial deal with Tavo Hellmund and after internal problems appeared to oust Hellmund, it seems that a subsequent contract offered by Ecclestone was on less favourable terms.
