Wurz fast in Barcelona, Jaguar missing from action
McLaren and Sauber continued testing in Barcelona on Tuesday, where McLaren test driver Alexander Wurz set a new track record behind the wheel of an interim MP4/16.
Heidfeld ran only the morning session, completing 54 laps of the Circuit de Catalunya, and leaving the track to McLaren in the Afternoon. Wurz completed 99 laps, and Coulthard, 63.
Jaguar was expected to join the test on Tuesday, but have revised their testing program to solve a problem they are having with the front wing on the new R3 chassis.
"We decided to postpone our planned Barcelona test this week in an effort to better understand the problem we are experiencing on the front wing section of the Jaguar R3," said a team spokesman. "Instead, we are conducting a straight-line program with last year's R2 and this year's R3."
The team will spend Tuesday through Thursday at Lurcy Levis, near Magny-Cours, conducting straight line tests with test driver Andre Lotterer. Eddie Irvine and Pedro De la Rosa will resume normal testing in Barcelona on Friday.
