THE Williams team were hampered by problems during testing at Barcelona on Tuesday, but test driver Marc Gene still topped the times at the hot Spanish track.

Gene, who worked on engine measurements and traction control developments, was almost a quarter of a second faster than Mark Webber, who was driving last year's Benetton.

Jenson Button was slowest of the three drivers after using the reliability of the old Renault engine to test new aerodynamic parts.
