The new Renault R24 has begun testing in Barcelona, with Jarno Trulli giving the new car its first shakedown runs. The car will not be unveiled for another 10 days but the lack of time means that the British-based team wants to get as many miles as possible. The car's engine has only be running on the dyno for about a week and so there are fears that reliability may be a problem as some of the team's rivals have engines testing since August.

Fernando Alonso is due to take over the tests later this week while the team back at Enstone pushes ahead with the assembly of the second chassis.
