Marc Gene, the Williams F1 test driver, set the fastest lap of the winter in Barcelona yesterday, lapping the Circuit de Catalunya in 1m15.928s. Ralf Schumacher was not far behind with a lap of 1m16.176s. This beats the record established in December by Franck Montagny's Renault at 1m16.290s. It is not clear exactly what configuration the Williams was running in but the team does not generally run underweight or with small fuel loads, preferring to know exactly where they stand in relation to the opposition.
