The grid at Macau

Fabio Carbone took pole position for the Macau Grand Prix but the two favourites for the event Ryan Briscoe and James Courtney were second and third, both just two-tenths behind the Renault-supported Brazilian.

Fabio Carbone took pole position for the Macau Grand Prix but the two favourites for the event Ryan Briscoe and James Courtney were second and third, both just two-tenths behind the Renault-supported Brazilian. The fourth place, also within three-tenths of pole was France's Nicholas Lapierre while veteran Pierre Kaffer, Richard Antinucci, Nico Rosberg, Tatsuya Kataoka, Paolo Montin and Robert Doornbos completed the top 10.

Of the other favoured runners there was disappointment for Nelson Piquet Jr, who ended up only 13th, while Narain Karthikeyan was 17th and Lewis Hamilton 18th.

The first of two races will take place on Sunday with Saturday spotlighting motorcycle racing.
