Testing moves forward
The F1 teams continued testing Tuesday at circuits in Barcelona, Valencia, and Le Castellet in the south of France.
Ferrari set the pace at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona, with Rubens Barrichello, Michael Schumacher and Luca Badoer all behind the wheel. Schumacher had a minor crash in the morning, but his car was able to be repaired for the afternoon session.
A host of new cars were also in action in Barcelona Tuesday. Mark Webber continued to test the new Jaguar R4, Jacques Villeneuve was busy lapping the new BAR 005, and Giancarlo Fisichella was behind the wheel of an all-black Jordan EJ13.
McLaren, Williams and Sauber conducted testing in Valencia Tuesday. Alexander Wurz set the pace for McLaren, while Juan Pablo Montoya and Marc Gene tested for Williams and Heinz-Harald Frentzen was in action for Sauber.
Wet conditions met Renault and Toyota at the Paul Ricard circuit in southern France Tuesday. The circuit remained closed due to heavy rain and fog until the afternoon, when the teams finally made their way onto the circuit. Fernando Alonso and Jarno Trulli only completed a total of 30 laps for Renault, while Toyota's new test driver, Ricardo Zonta, managed just 10 laps for his team.
