Germany's Marco Holzer has won a BMW Sauber Formula 1 test with his victory in the Formula BMW World Final in Bahrain. Holzer, who comes from a wellknown German racing family, which is involved in DTM, Formula 3 and Formula BMW, dominated the event, winning the heats but in the final he was headed on the track by fellow countryman Nicolas Huelkenberg, driving for Josef Kaufmann Racing. He won the race but was later given a 10-second penalty for not maintaining the correct pace behind the Safety Car. The penalty dropped Huelkenberg to third place. The event featured 35 racers from 15 different countries who have been running this year in the four different Formula BMW series in the Asia Pacific region, Germany, United Kingdom and the USA. The Nations Cup went to the UK.
