TRIPLE World Champion Michael Schumacher completed only six laps of testing at the Mugello circuit on Monday as a problem with the engine injection system hindered the new Ferrari F2001 car.

The German driver did his first installation lap but after six laps he discovered a problem with the injection system, which required the removal of the engine.

Ferrari's engineers decided not to resume testing because of the problem, but Schumacher will continue his testing duties on Tuesday.

Schumacher ran on wet tires on Monday after heavy overnight rain at the Italian circuit and his best time of the six laps was one minute and 35.119 seconds.
