Schumacher caught speeding in Austria

BMW-Williams driver Ralf Schumacher was reportedly caught speeding near his home in Austria this weekend.

BMW-Williams driver Ralf Schumacher was reportedly caught speeding near his home in Austria this weekend.

German Schumacher, who won the San Marino Grand Prix last, was caught and fined and could now lose his driving licence.

Salzburg police reportedly caught Schumacher doing 105 miles-per-hour in a 62 mph zone and the Formula One star was forced to pay around £450 (pounds) on the spot as surety after he was not carrying his driving licence.

The speed Schumacher exceeded the limit by could leave him facing a 14-day ban on driving on normal roads, but it will not effect his superlicence which allows him to compete in Grands Prix.

His BMW-Williams team were unaware of the misdemeanor on Monday morning as they prepare for this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix, where Schumacher will be one of the favorites for victory.
