Sauber at Jerez
The team is expected to test again at Paul Ricard in the week before Christmas by which time the name of the team's second driver for 1996 should finally be known. It remains a choice between Johnny Herbert and Mark Blundell - Ford management wanting to have an English-speaker in the team to help the development of the new V10 engine.
Negotiations continue to get Austrian engineer Gustav Brunner out of his Ferrari contract so that he can take over the role of Sauber Technical Director from Andre de Cortanze, who has joined Ligier.
There is another test at Jerez this week, but it will not be as important as originally planned as Benetton has pulled out because Gerhard Berger cannot fit in the B195. McLaren will be in action with David Coulthard and probably a couple of young drivers from the McLaren/Autosport Young Driver Scheme. Alain Prost was to have tested but this idea has been shelved.
Other F1 teams are heading to Italy, where the Bologna Motor Show takes place this weekend, for the annual F1 pursuit races.
