Ligier still looking

THE Ligier team is still in the process of deciding what to do for drivers in 1996.

THE Ligier team is still in the process of deciding what to do for drivers in 1996. There is no doubt that the team has been casting around in the United States to try and find a sensible driver with some financial backing. Brazilian Gil de Ferran has been approached - despite the fact that he is under contract to Jim Hall. Robby Gordon has also been contacted but the hot-headed Californian has now denied that he will be racing for Ligier next year.

Ligier now seems to be faced with the choice of accepting one paying driver - the highest bidder appears to be Pedro Diniz - and using his money to help the team build up for the future or to run two top drivers and hope that they will attract more backing, but running the risk of compromising the long-term future of the team.
