Qatar joins the motor racing party

Qatar is the latest country in the Middle East to open its own international motorsports venue. The Losail International Circuit of Qatar will host a round of the MotoGP series later this year.

Qatar is the latest country in the Middle East to open its own international motorsports venue. The Losail International Circuit of Qatar will host a round of the MotoGP series later this year. The track was officially opened with a lap by Randy Mamola on a Ducati. The 3.3-mile circuit, which is located close to the city of Doha, has cost the local government around $75m and was formally opened by Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa al-Thani.
