Pre-season testing ends as McLaren complete work at Barcelona

FORMULA ONE pre-season testing came to a close on Friday as McLaren completed an indifferent day of work at the Circuit de Catalunya.

McLaren's world championship contender Mika Hakkinen and test-driver Alexander Wurz both completed race distances in the new MP4/16 car, but not without problems at the Barcelona track.

Austrian Wurz lost time due to an engine failure in the morning, while Finn Hakkinen was left off the track for a short time when his car suffered a gearbox problem.

Wurz completed 78 laps and Hakkinen completed 75 laps as the team join their 10 competitors by heading to Australia for the season-opening Australian Grand Prix on March 4.
