Sergio Perez, who suffered a heavy accident in Q3 for the Monaco Grand Prix, is conscious and talking according to a statement from the Sauber team.

Perez lost control of his Sauber C30 in the same place as Nico Rosberg crashed in the final session of free practice, on the exit of the tunnel under braking for the Nouvelle Chicane.

The Mexican rookie went sideways into the barrier and suffered a heavy impact. Rescue crews carried out the extraction process carefully, with the conclusion of qualifying delayed 40 minutes. Perez has been taken to the Princess Grace hospital in Monaco and Sauber said more news will be issued later.
