Hamilton demoted on Monaco grid

The Briton had hoped to battle for pole position at a track he loves, but his gamble on just one supersoft tyre run in Q3 backfired when he was first held up at Massenet by Felipe Massa and then snookered by the red flag for Sergio Perezs accident.

His lap after the accident qualified him seventh, but he now drops to 10th, behind Nico Rosberg, Pastor Maldonado and Perez. With the Mexican having suffered concussion, however, the Sauber will not start and so Hamilton should line up ninth on the grid.
