Nichols dumped by Jaguar Racing

Steve Nichols, the technical director of Jaguar Racing, has been dropped by the troubled racing team and while the news is not exactly a big surprise given the performance of the Jaguar-Cosworth R3 in recent tests, it is not going to make life any easier for the team as it tries to sort out the problems.

There may be further technical moves in the days ahead as there is clearly a great deal of discontent within Jaguar - and there has been since the summer when Bobby Rahal was dropped as team boss.

What is clear is that Jaguar Racing has now gone from a state of crisis to a state of panic - and that cannot be good news for the longterm future of the team.
