New uprights caused Renault FP1 problem

Renault team principal Eric Boullier has explained that it was a new batch of uprights that caused the problems in first free practice for Nick Heidfeld and Vitaly Petrov.

Renault team principal Eric Boullier has explained that it was a new batch of uprights that caused the problems in first free practice for Nick Heidfeld and Vitaly Petrov.

"We had a couple of upright failures," the Frenchman said. "It took quite some time for us to investigate but the failure was from the same batch of uprights and we had a back-up plan."

It seems that the team tried uprights made from a different material. "We had new parts since Australia and the lack of track time doesn't help," Boullier added, "it was a heat treatment and material issue."
