BERNIE ECCLESTONE has been working on putting Formula 1 on the World Wide Web for some time but says that he does not see the need to hurry things along. It is better, he says, to have the right product and that is currently being defined in Formula 1 circles.

It is worth noting, however, that NASCAR has just done a deal with America Online to cross-promote one another's activities. AOL will get trackside promotion at NASCAR events, the sanctioning body organises over 2000 events a year in the United States, including the Winston Cup. In exchange for this NASCAR will feature on AOL internet sites. The deal makes a lot of sense to both parties.
