Montoya goes down in flames
Juan Pablo Montoya did a decent job in his first NASCAR Nextel Cup race until the final laps of the race when he crashed heavily and had to extricate himself from the flaming wreck of his car! Ryan Newman was later questioned about whether he had spun Montoya out but said that the two cars had not touched. There had been an earlier incident between the two drivers but Newman later said that the first had been his mistake and that he was not seeking revenge as had been suggested.
Montoya ran as high as 13th in the race, a good effort for a rookie.
