McLaren pair on song again
MCLAREN claimed a second successive one-two on the timesheets at Valencia as the weather improved to allow a good day's testing on Wednesday.
After Tuesday's torrential morning rain, conditions were back to that expected at the Spanish circuit and Mika Hakkinen excelled to end just less than half a second faster than second-placed David Coulthard.
The Williams pair were next on the timesheets with Ralf Schumacher third after working on aerodynamics and tires, and Juan Pablo Montoya behind him after car troubles in the morning session.
Jaguar's Eddie Irvine was fifth as he worked on a Michelin tire program and put in reliability runs on the latest Cosworth engine.
Australian Mark Webber clocked sixth fastest time for Benetton testing brake set-up and developed the team's software program in a B200.
Jenson Button, who was expected to be resting his shoulder injury, was also in action at the circuit, driving the B201, but could only manage the slowest lap of all cars.
Ironically, former Jaguar driver Luciano Burti, now driving for Prost, was precisely equal on times with his replacement at Jaguar, Pedro de la Rosa.
Burti finished ahead of his new team-mate Jean Alesi, but ended his test session when he stopped out on the circuit with mechanical failure.
