Jaguar to launch R3 on January 4

THE new Jaguar-Cosworth R3 will be launched in Britain on January 4. The latest offering from the Milton Keynes team will be raced next year by Eddie Irvine and Pedro de la Rosa under the auspices of Niki Lauda, the head of Ford's Premier Performance Division.

Jaguar Racing needs a better showing in 2002 as the pressure is on within parent company Ford to cut back on costs. Irvine will also be trying to make a big impression as his three-year deal with Jaguar runs out at the end of the year and he is going to struggle to make as much money in the future - unless he can prove he is a lot better than de la Rosa, which he failed to do this year.
