Jaguar Junior Team shaping up

JAGUAR RACING is expected to announce shortly that it has signed up two new drivers to be its Junior Team for 2001.

JAGUAR RACING is expected to announce shortly that it has signed up two new drivers to be its Junior Team for 2001. With Tomas Scheckter and Narain Karthikeyan expected to move up to Formula 3000, the team is tipped to take on American Phil Giebler and Australian James Courtney.

Giebler (21) comes from Oxnard, California and was a multiple US karting champion before moving to France to join the Elf La Filiere scheme, becoming the first American to win a race in Formula Campus in 1999. Giebler finished second in the series and spent this year in the French Formula 3 B Championship in which he finished second.

Courtney is a former World Karting Champion who won this year's British Formula Ford 1600 series. He is managed by the same organization that looks after Johnny Herbert's career and so has very good connections within the Jaguar empire.
