Ferrari confirm Schumacher will not test in December

FERRARI have confirmed that Michael Schumacher will not test for the team next month as he continues his recovery from an operation to remove a metal pin from his right leg.

The German had the pin removed after it was inserted in July 1999 to repair the broken leg he suffered in a crash at the British Grand Prix.

The reigning world champion will convalesce as team-mate Rubens Barrichello and Ferrari test-driver Luca Badoer take up testing duties.

Ferrari are still to finalize their testing schedule for December, but the team has confirmed that it will take the unusual step of testing away from their Fiorano and Mugello tracks.

The Maranello-based team will test in Spain at the Jerez, Catalunya and Valencia circuits.

Ferrari said that development for their 2001 car is also well on the way, as a half-scale model has been tested in a wind tunnel and a first chassis is already under construction.
