Infineon goes to the US

Infineon has returned to motor racing by buying the naming rights to the Sears Point Raceway in California.

FORMER Jordan sponsor Infineon has returned to motor racing by buying the naming rights to the Sears Point Raceway in California. The facility, at the northern end of San Francisco Bay, will now be known as Infineon Raceway.

The German semi-conductor company wanted some more exposure in the United States and chose Sears Point because of its proximity to Silicon Valley, the center of the computer world.

The deal comes at the end of a major $50m rebuild for the Sonoma track by its owner Speedway Motorsports Inc.
