Imola had collected all the money needed to modify the circuit as demanded by the F1 authorities but then the promoter SAGIS was unable to meet the financial demands of the Formula One group and the contract was cancelled. SAGIS is not too happy about that as Imola is now looking for an alternative promoter and SAGIS, which is owned by the Automobile Club di Bologna, is left with nothing and is now considering trying to claim back some of the money invested in the track - which is owned by the city.
