Italy's Franco Lucchese, the president of the Automobile Club d'Italia, has been elected the new FIA Deputy President for Mobility and the Automobile, replacing Catalunya's Sebastia Salvado, who held the position for just one year. Salvado stood down because he did not have the time to do the FIA job and run the Royal Automobile Club of Catalunya.
Lucchesi is a lawyer and was President of the Automobile Club of Florence for 16 years before becoming President of the ACI in 2001.
It is also worth noting that China has been given a place on the World Motor Sport Council with Wan Heping, the Vice Chairman of the Federation of Automobile Sports of the People's Republic of China (FASC).
The FIA Deputy President (Sport) remains Marco Piccinini, meaning that both Max Mosley's deputies are Italian.
