Hakkinen leads the way at Silverstone

MCLAREN's former champion Mika Hakkinen set the pace on the first day of Silverstone's latest F1 test.

Hakkinen and the team's test driver Alex Wurz completed a lock-out at the top of the timesheets with times of 1m23.223s and 1m24.175s respectively.

The Jaguar Racing set the next three best times with Eddie Irvine, Pedro de la Rosa and German F3 driver Andre Lotterer in line astern.

Arrows was also present, Jos Verstappen outpacing Enrique Bernoldi although he was almost three seconds off Hakkinen's pace.
