Gasly signs Alpine deal through 2028 season
This morning the Alpine F1 eam agreed to a contract with Pierre Gasly, and the French driver will remain with the team until at least the end of the 2028 Formula One World Championship after signing a new long-term contract during the Italian Grand Prix weekend at Monza.
The deal secures Alpine's lead driver as the team prepares for a major shift in regulations starting in 2026, a period that will include new technical rules for both chassis and power units.
Gasly, who joined Alpine in 2023, has quickly become a central figure in its project to move back toward the front of the grid.
Since his arrival, the French driver has achieved two podium finishes, at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix and the 2024 São Paulo Grand Prix. His consistent performances also helped Alpine secure sixth in the Constructors' Championship last season. Extending his stay to 2028 ensures continuity for the team, which is undergoing changes in leadership and direction under consultant Flavio Briatore and Renault Group's new CEO François Provost.
Gasly's new contract reflects Alpine's strategy to build stability around its driver line-up while intensifying development efforts at the operations in Enstone and Viry-Châtillon. The team views him as the cornerstone of its competitiveness in the years to come, especially with new regulations offering the potential for a reshuffle of the competitive order.
With more than a decade of Formula One experience and a career that includes a Grand Prix victory at Monza in 2020, Gasly remains one of France's most successful modern drivers and now a long-term leader for Alpine's ambitions.
Pierre Gasly said, I'm thrilled to commit my long-term future to Alpine. As a Frenchman, especially, driving for a French car company, makes me feel very proud. Since I joined in 2023, I have always felt that this team is the right place to be for the future. Flavio's [Briatore] support and belief in me, François' [Provost] commitment to the Formula One project, as well as the people we have in Enstone made this a natural decision and I want to be here in years to come and deliver on our joint objective: to win races and world championships. We're all in this together and I look forward to continuing this special story.
Flavio Briatore said, Since I returned to the team, I have always stated how important it is to build and grow the competitiveness of BWT Alpine Formula One Team. We're well prepared for the new era of Formula One, beginning in 2026, and now we have our lead driver confirmed to bring us well into the future. Pierre has been an immense asset for the team during this challenging period. I have been very impressed with his attitude, dedication and talent and we look forward to continuing this project together for a long time.
