F1 engineers discuss long-term future of F1

THE Formula 1 engine manufacturers met on Thursday to discuss the future shape of Grand Prix racing.

THE Formula 1 engine manufacturers met on Thursday to discuss the future shape of Grand Prix racing. There is a strong argument that after 2006 there will need to be a rethink of the engine regulations as gas-guzzling 3.5-liter V10 engines are not representative of the technology which automobile manufacturers are trying to promote at the moment.

There has long been a school of thought that the engine capacity in F1 should be reduced to 2.5-liters but more radical suggestions have pointed to such wild ideas as turbo diesels or even hybrid engines.
