Pedro de la Rosa has had a very quiet winter since being dropped by Jaguar Racing at the end of last season. But de la Rosa has not given up on his Formula 1 career and the Spaniard was spotted recently visiting the McLaren headquarters in Woking and there are suggestions that he will be taken on as the team's second test driver to support the efforts of Alexander Wurz. This would not be a surprise because de la Rosa has considerable F1 experience after four years in F1 and another season prior to that as a test driver.

It should also be noted that de la Rosa is managed by Julian Jakobi, who has been close to McLaren for many years, notably as the manager of Ayrton Senna.
