THE number 1 player in women's tennis, Jennifer Capriati, joined the list of VIP visitors to the Ferrari factory at Maranello this week as she celebrated the latest high on her comeback trail at the top of the world tennis rankings.

Capriati, the teenage prodigy who went off the rails and has since made a Hollywood-style comeback, visited Ferrari in order to sample the 360 Modena model promised to her by sponsor Fila sportswear, which also picks up the Scuderia's clothing deal from the start of next season from US brand Tommy Hilfiger.

The American tennis queen was treated to a spin round Fiorano in a 360 by the factory's chief test driver, Dario Benuzzi and then at the wheel. Capriati's parents, Stefano and Denise also took the opportunity of putting in a lap of the track.

"The 360 Modena is my favorite," said the tennis ace. "I would like it in blue, but I like red as well. It was great to get in a Ferrari. I had done it once before, but not alongside a real driver like today."

The Capriati family's visit took them all round the production facilities and the Gestione Sportiva, home of Scuderia Ferrari's Formula 1 team. Finally it's understood that Jennifer was forced to get down to the hard work of choosing between blue and red, and name her choice of optional extras for her new car.
