One of the better known Formula 3 engineers Bruce Cary had died from cancer. Cary played an important role in developing many talents. The Australian engineer made his name working with Ralt's Ron Tauranac and played an important role in the design of the RT3 and RT30 Formula 3 cars. He eventually moved on to design the Bowman F3 car and then became an engineer with West Surrey Racing and in the course of the 1980s and 1990s helped many young drivers to success. He returned to Australia and worked in the V8 Supercar series with Mark Larkham but returned to Formula 3 recently helping out Barton Mawer. He taught many Formula 3 engineers the ropes and Trevor Carlin, the boss of British F3 team Carlin Motorsport admits that his teaching lives on today in the way we run our team.
