Arrows and Stewart try Silverstone

RATHER than join the party at Monza, Arrows and Stewart both decided to stay in England and test at Silverstone in the hope that the British summer would give them a little sunshine without all the problems needed to get to Monza.

RATHER than join the party at Monza, Arrows and Stewart both decided to stay in England and test at Silverstone in the hope that the British summer would give them a little sunshine without all the problems needed to get to Monza. Unfortunately the test was badly disrupted by the weather which meant that Damon Hill did only three laps on Wednesday. The following day he did 27 laps working on engine mapping and trying out a revised weight distribution. He then suffered a Yamaha engine failure. Pedro Diniz was also in action, completing 23 laps on the second day of the test.

Stewart ran Rubens Barrichello for 53 laps on Thursday but the test was disrupted by a series of mechanical problems. The Brazilian was, however, able to run some evaluation tests with Bridgestone's 1998-spec grooved slick tires.
