Sebastien Bourdais failed to wrap up his third consecutive Champ Car title because of bad luck at Road America where he was the dominant force until a late-race caution and a different fuel strategy gave AJ Allmendinger the chance to keep his title hopes alive, although he remains 58 points down with two races remaining.
