Qualifying Report - Bang goes Kimi

Fernando Alonso took pole position for the British Grand Prix after a blown engine on Saturday morning ruined Kimi Raikkonen's chances once again. It was the second consecutive race in which the Finn has had the same problem, which means that he must take a 10-place penalty of the grid on Sunday.

BAR and Bonneville Flats

BAR-Honda is set to go to the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah in October to see what ultimate speed an F1 car can achieve in a straight line. A 2005 007 will be driven either by James Rossiter or Adam Carroll (probably the former).

FIA Appeals for October

The FIA has announced that the International Court of Appeal will meet in Paris on Thursday September 28 to consider the appeal of the seven teams which were found guilty of "acts prejudicial to the interests of a competition" recently by the FIA World Council.

Jenson Button is being linked to a drive at Ferrari. The news was first rumoured in the Red Bulletin magazine, which is available only in the F1 paddock, and then popped up in the Daily Mirror.

Nick Hayes goes to NASCAR

Nick Hayes has been named as the engine research and development director of Richard Childress Racing in the NASCAR Nextel Cup. The former F1 engine designer left Cosworth last year after a decade as the chief designer of F1 engines.

Practice 3, 4 Report - Alonso on top, Kimi in trouble

Fernando Alonso set the fastest lap of the morning at Silverstone on Saturday, edging out McLaren's Juan Pablo Montoya but the big news of the morning was that Kimi Raikkonen had again run into trouble with another engine failure.

Mosley: It will all blow over

FIA President Max Mosley made an appearance at the British Grand Prix, his first since Monaco seven weeks ago, and admitted that some of his recent decisions have not pleased the Formula 1 teams.

Practice 2 Report - De La Rosa stays on top

Pedro De la Rosa and Ricardo Zonta remained the two fastest men on Friday afternoon with laps in the 1m18s. These were way quicker than the regular racers led in the afternoon session by Juan Pablo Montoya and Kimi Raikkonen in their McLarens.

BAR Honda signs Adam Carroll and James Rossiter

The BAR Honda F1 team has signed up youngsters Adam Carroll and James Rossiter to join the driver line-up alongside Jenson Button, Takuma Sato, Anthony Davidson and Enrique Bernoldi.

The Grand Prix Drivers' Association has a meeting planned for Silverstone and has issued a new invitation to FIA President Max Mosley to attend and discuss safety issues with regard to testing.

Practice 1 Report - De La Rosa leads the way

Pedro de la Rosa set the pace in the first session at Silverstone on Friday morning, lapping nine-tenths of a second quicker in his McLaren than Ricardo Zonta's Toyota. The two test drivers were as usual at an advantage as the race drivers were saving their engines.
