Engines
Supertec
In May 1998 it was announced that Mecachrome had signed an exclusive distribution contract with a company called Super Performance Competition Engineering to build Supertec V10 engines for the 1999 season. These were rebadged Mecachrome engines, which were themselves rebadged Renault V10s from 1997.In 1999 Williams, Benetton and British American Racing all used the engines, although Benetton chose to rename them as "Playlife". They were not very successful but scored several podium finishes in the hands of Ralf Schumacher (for Williams) and Giancarlo Fisichella (for Benetton). The engines were supplied to Benetton and Arrows in 2000.
