...with Lola as a possible client

LOLA CARS is negotiating with engine manufacturers which are new to F1, hoping to convince them to support the company's planned Grand Prix team in 1997. We understand that the only way such a program would be possible for 1997 is if a manufacturer agreed to fund the construction of an F1 engine from an existing engine company such as Neil Brown.

Lola has to make a decision within the next two months as to whether the F1 program can go ahead. Eric Broadley is keen on the idea as F1 remains the one sphere of motorsport where Lola has never really made a great impact.

The company has the technical facilities necessary and has been discreetly recruiting F1 staff in recent months, but finding the money needed for a full-scale F1 assault has always been Lola's problem.
