Dan Wheldon will soon become the first British driver to win the Indy Racing League title. Wheldon won his sixth victory of the year at the Chicagoland circuit on Sunday and now is virtually assured of the title as he has a lead of 102 points with just two events remaining. The win was Andretti Green's 10th victory in 15 races.

The event was marked by a huge accident involving Ryan Briscoe and Alex Barron. The Australian suffered two fractured collar bones, concussion and a bruised lung and was airlifted to a nearby hospital. He is expected to be out of action for a while.
