The Senna film has scooped awards for best documentary and best editing at the British Academy of Film and Television Awards at London's Royal Opera House.

The star-studded BAFTAs saw Meryl Streep claim the best actress award for her portrayal of British PM Margaret Thatcher in 'The Iron Lady', poor Streep losing her shoe as she went to the stage to receive her award! The evening was also attended by the likes of Brad Pitt and George Clooney.

The Senna movie lost out to Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy for Outstanding British Film but beat Martin Scorsese's George Harrison to the documentary award.

Senna screenwriter Manish Pandey said: "We just really want to thank the Senna family for trusting us with his legacy. When your son dies in circumstances like that, and you get a bunch of guys who turn up and say, listen, we want to tell the story, we think we're very sensitive, we think we will absolutely tell it right... it takes a lot of guts to support people like that, and I'd like to thank them for doing that."
