Seven F1 men for Speedcar

The Dubai-based Speedcar Series kicks off later this week for its second season of racing with seven teams from six countries.

The Dubai-based Speedcar Series kicks off later this week for its second season of racing with seven teams from six countries. Two of last year's are back in action: Germany's Phoenix Racing which also runs cars in DTM, FIA GT and at the Le Mans 24 Hours and the Union Properties team from the UAE. New teams include a second UAE entry from Continental Circus, Italy's Durango, HPR from the UK, JMB from Monaco and the American outfit called Palm Beach Racing.

There will be seven former Formula 1 drivers in action this year: inaugural chsampion Johnny Herbert being joined by Jean Alesi, Heinz Harald Frentzen, Stefan Johansson, Tonio Liuzzi, Gianni Morbidelli and Jacques Villeneuve.

"We are very pleased with the high level of teams that we have on board at the moment," said Claudio Berro, Operations Director of Speedcar. "Our focus this season is to attract professional teams and we are accomplishing that. We are still waiting for a final adjustment to the list of drivers from some of our teams but that will be finalised today and announced tomorrow."
