Alex Hitzinger, who has been at Red Bull Technologies in recent months, is rumoured to be on his way to join the FIA where he will be employed to work in technical policing of some sort or other.

Hitzinger started his career with the Toyota WRC team in 1997 and then moved to Cosworth where he set up a rallying department and led the design team of the Ford Duratec R engine. He later moved on to the Cosworth F1 programme before being hired by Toro Rosso to be its technical director, before being pushed sideways when the team hired Giorgio Ascanelli. Hitzinger then became head of research at Red Bull Technologies.
